Aoife DeMille

Aoife DeMille is singer-songwriter from Co.Kerry. Her music explores rich and emotive imagery through folk infused, electro-acoustic sound design, reminiscing her childhood in Kerry and observing her life now in Dublin. Working as a sound designer for multimedia installation and live electronic performance, Aoife fuses styles of ambient electronics, alt-folk singer-songwriting, and contemporary composition to form her distinctive sound.

Overall, her music acts as facilitator for emotional introspection—sound and visual journeys that delicately suggest but never instruct, her music invites her audiences to become co-creators in the experience.

Interstices of Sound & Vision: Heterotopia Installation (Solo Exhibition 2019)Aoife DeMille’s debut solo exhibition as part of a BA in music from Trinity College Dublin. An immersive, multimedia installation which involved six live performances, this installation won two awards as part of Aoife’s Senior Sophister music technology project, including best overall project in the year. The audio landscape was created using an improvisatory performance art practice, using Ableton Live Suite. Composed, performed, and developed by Aoife DeMille.

As You Can Tell (ISLO Collective 2022)The ISLO Collective’s debut exhibition immersed audiences in an audio-visual installation The installation featured the work of five female Dublin-based artists including sound artists Lara Gallagher, Aoife DeMille, and visual artists Alana McDonough, Suibhne Bichon Durand, and Becky Jones.
The aim of this collaborative initiative was to provoke a sense of collective identity and community driven by the formation of an immersive multimedia installation open to the public.Through the application of electro-acoustic sound design, live improvisatory performance, arduino technologies, sculptural and visual art, this installation provided audiences with a meditative space to meditate on the theme of magical realism.
